Cartagena Colombia

Its taken me quite a while to upload all of these pictures. As always, good internet connections are hard to find in this part of the world. We have been in Cartagena for the last few days.... Cartagena is a very old city on the Carribean coast. It is considered by many to be one of the best preserved colonial cities in South America. At its core is a walled city facing the sea. It was founded in the early 1500s and looks the part. It is easy to get lost here..... entire days can be spent just wandering the streets. We loved it and ended up staying longer than we had anticipated.
Lisa asked these guys if the sloth was their pet and they responded "no, we just took it from the tree".... apparently it just lives there in a city park. After holding it for a moment she decided that it was not happy and put it back in the tree.

El Castillo de San Felipe.... one of the largest and strongest fortesses ever built by the Spanish in any of their colonies. Construction began in 1630

Playa Blanca.... an undeveloped beach on an island about an hours boat ride from Cartagena.... no cars on the island.... beautiful!

This is Volcan De Totumo.... not really a volcano, but rather an 60 ft high mound that spews out luke warm mud instead of lava. You can climb down in to the crater and swim in mud.... and lots of people do. Once your finished, you jump in a lake and local women wash you off.... good times!
